The Maryland State Highway Administration plans to resurface about one mile of Colesville Road (U.S. Route 29) from Georgia Avenue to St. Andrews Way, according to a recent press release.
A contractor will patch, mill, pave and restripe the road. In addition, crews will install concrete bus pads to preserve pavement, do any needed cleaning and repairs of storm water systems, upgrade sidewalk ramps to meet ADA standards, and add concrete curbs and gutters.
The project is budgeted at $1.9 million and expected to be completed by the summer.
Single lane closures will take place Mondays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The road, which typically handles between 35,000-56,000 vehicles a day, is in rough condition due to patching following recent WSSC work on the underground pipelines.
