County Announces Schedules for Upcoming Holidays

The county government has released its schedule for the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays (Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1).

All county offices will be closed both days, along with county liquor stores, state offices and courts. All library branches will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and be closed on the holidays.

All recreation and community centers will close at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, and all programs will be cancelled. In addition, all of those facilities will be closed Dec. 26-Jan. 7, except Mid County, Good Hope, Ross Boddy, Potomac, North Potomac and Damascus, which will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 26-28.

County pools will close at 4 p.m. Dec. 24 and 31 and be closed on the two holidays.

The schedules for Montgomery Parks programs, events and facilities can be found online.

Ride On service will stop at 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve and operate on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center and TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store will be closed on the holiday.Service for Metrorail and Metrobus is online.

All county-provided trash and recycling collection is cancelled Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.  Collection will slide by one day with the last pickup on the following Saturdays.

The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station will close at 3 p.m. Christmas and New Year’s eves, and be closed on the holidays.

Finally, normal parking fees and regulations will be in effect on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Parking will be free on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
