Report: Quarry House Tavern to reopen on Sunday

The Quarry House Tavern will reopen on Sunday, according to a report in The Washington Post.

The community institution closed following a fire in Bombay Gaylord, above the bar, in March 2015.

But it wasn’t the fire that did the damage that forced owner Jackie Greenbaum to empty the space and strip it down to the cinder block walls.

She spoke publicly for the first time to the Post about two water main breaks in January 2016 that filled the bar with four feet of water. The flood didn’t get pumped out for four days, ruining the wooden bar and walls.

According to the article, the tavern will look much that same as it did, and the menu will be mostly the same, with some additions from Slash Run, another Greenbaum operation, and possibly the fried chicken from the now-closed Jackie’s.

Patrons can expect to find 10 beers on tap, a focus on Maryland craft beers, and a large selection of bourbon and whiskey, the Post said.
