Update on Spring Center Businesses

Almost all of the businesses in Spring Center in the 8600 block of 16th Street are now closed or relocated in anticipation of Purple Line construction.

Businesses still operating in the center are Patient First urgent care center, Famous Pawnbrokers, El Aguila and the post office.

Patient First will close around the first of the year and move to its new location on Georgia Avenue.

Famous Pawnbrokers has several other locations in the area. El Aguila plans to close soon, according to a sign on the restaurant, and is referring customers to its location at 7926 Georgia Ave. There is no update on a new location for the post office.

Spring Gardens closed and will reopen at 1919 Seminary Ave. in the former Carpet Bazaar space.

Jewelers Warehouse closed, changed its name to Kensington Jewelers and relocated to 3720 Farragut Ave. in Kensington.

Cameron’s Seafood also is closed and a sign notes the company plans to operate locally from a food truck on Georgia Avenue. Customers can call 301.585.5555 for the exact location.

Cameron’s currently operates food trucks in Hagerstown, Annapolis and on Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover, Md., in addition to its retail outlets.
