The Montgomery County police are asking for help to identify a suspect they believe is responsible for seven residential burglaries in two neighborhoods near downtown Silver Spring, according to a department release.
The affected homes are located in the Chelsea Heights and Seven Oaks-Evanswood neighborhoods. The burglaries took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 22, and the night of Sunday, Sept. 22.
The suspect entered homes through unlocked windows and doors and primarily took cash, the department said; some of the homes were occupied at the time.
The release includes the following summaries of the incidents (all times approximate):
Saturday, Sept. 21
- 2:36 am in the 100 block of Noyes Court
Sunday, Sept. 22
- 6–8 p.m. in the 100 block of Springvale Lane
- 9–10 p.m. in the 8400 block of Cedar Lane
- 10 p.m. in the 700 block of Dartmouth Avenue
- 11:13 p.m. in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street
- 11:30 p.m. (attempted burglary) in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street, and
- After 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street.
Investigators have released surveillance video of the suspect and are asking anyone with information regarding these burglaries or the suspect involved to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240.773.6870.
Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1.866.411.TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
The department also asks the residents in the area to review home surveillance video and to contact detectives if they believe the suspect was captured on their security system.
