Urban Winery Closes for Winter in Anticipation of Relocating

The Urban Winery has moved out of its space on Bonifant Street for the winter in anticipation of relocating in the spring, according to CEO Damon Callis. Callis told the Source that while the Bonifant location had been a good one for them, the growth in the winery’s production demands meant they needed to find a larger space.

Great Shoals Winery Will Close, Be Replaced by Bubble Tea Shop

Great Shoals Winery Tasting Room, which opened in Takoma Park in 2018, will close at the end of the year and the space taken over by a shop featuring bubble tea, according to an announcement from Main Street Takoma. Leandra Nichola, a longtime Takoma Park resident, will open Main Street Pearl at 7050 Carroll Ave. serving bubble tea and other “bubble” drinks including beer, wine, cider, kombucha and scratch soda.

Mrs. K’s Restaurant Now Offered for Lease to New Operator

Mrs. K’s Restaurant and Barrel Bar, a Silver Spring institution for 90 years, is now being offered for lease. “The owners want to take the time to find the right operator to take it to the next level,” said the leasing agent, who asked to remain anonymous. The Mrs. K’s name may or may not live on, he said, depending on what that operator decides to do.

County Thanksgiving Day Closings Announced

The county has announced its schedule of closings for the Thanksgiving Day holiday Nov. 26. All county offices, libraries and the Alcohol Beverage Services retail stores will be closed, as will all recreation programs and facilities.
