Montgomery Parks will close two sections of Sligo Creek Parkway tomorrow, Sept. 18 to vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. The sections are:
Parkway from Colesville Road to Wayne Avenue, and
Parkway from Kennebec Avenue to Maple Avenues.
The Revere Bank branch located in the Lee Plaza Building at 8601 Georgia Ave. will close as of tomorrow, Aug. 14, according to a sign taped to the ATM on the site. The ATM itself will no longer operate as of 2 p.m. Friday. The sign directs customers to refer to sandyspringbank.com to find a Sandy Spring Bank branch or ATM location.
The Republic Garden in downtown Silver Spring has been temporarily shut down by order of the Department of Health and Human Services, officials announced. The restaurant/lounge at 8402 Georgia Ave. was given a 30-day closure notice on Sunday, July 26 for not maintaining the minimum of six feet for social distancing.
The Jimmy John’s sandwich shop at 8710 Cameron St. in Silver Spring has permanently closed “due to coronavirus.” Other than a notice on the doors, the only “announcement” was in response to a customer inquiry on Twitter yesterday.
The county’s Department of Health and Human Services closed two more Georgia Avenue businesses in Silver Spring for failing to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. Society Lounge at 8229 Georgia Ave. and Republic Garden at 8402 Georgia were both shut down on Sunday July 12, both for not maintaining social distancing. In addition, both businesses had their licenses suspended.
Not Your Average Joe’s restaurant in Ellsworth Place has permanently closed, according to an email sent to customers today (July 9) and forwarded to the Source. The message, signed by Peter D’Amelio, the company’s chairman and CEO, reads, “We have truly enjoyed being part of the Silver Spring community.”
Two Georgia Avenue businesses in downtown Silver Spring have been shut down for violating COVID-19 restrictions, county officials announced. The Palisades Lounge and the Cabana Hookah Lounge were both closed.
Next Day Blinds, based in Jessup, Md., has ceased operations and closed all of its stores, including one across from Whole Foods in Downtown Silver Spring. The company’s website now redirects visitors to a page on the site of 3 Day Blinds, a company founded in California in 1978.
