UPDATE: Detectives from the Special Investigations Division have arrested Leticia Guzman, age 25, of the 1500 block of Korth Place in Silver Spring, and charged her with child neglect and reckless endangerment, according to a press release.
Montgomery County police have identified the mother of an abandoned newborn baby found Friday near Sligo Creek north of Dennis Avenue. The infant female was found naked in the woods after a man walking in the 10000 block of Tenbrook Drive heard a baby crying, found the child and called 911.

Police Seek Help Identifying Armed Robbery Suspects

Montgomery County police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify three suspects in an Aug. 3 armed robbery, according to a press release. The incident took place Sunday evening, and police responded at about 10:40 p.m. to the Spring Beer & Wine Store at 9330 Georgia Ave.

Workshop Scheduled for Aspiring Comedians

Aspiring comedians can learn how to hone their routines during a workshop sponsored by Improbable Comedy, according to an announcement from producer Kim Levone. Standup comedian Sara Armour, who started in the business in Washington, D.C. in 2011, will lead the three-hour workshop. The workshop will be held on Sunday, Aug. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Cissel-Saxon American Legion Post 41 at 905 Sligo Ave.

Locavino’s grand opening celebration this weekend will feature wine tastings, special draft beers from local breweries and a full menu, according to co-owners Jarrod Jabre and Justin Wallace. For the grand opening, Locavino will be open Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and they expect to be open on Sunday from 11 a.m. past the normal 9 p.m. closing.
