Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect in White Oak Carjacking

Detectives from the county police department’s Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in a June 13 carjacking at a White Oak bus stop. The investigation showed that the suspect stole property from a business in the 10100 block of New Hampshire Avenue at approximately 7 p.m. that day, fleeing on foot.

Takoma Park Police Issue Warning About Medicaid Scam

The Takoma Park Police Department has issued a community advisory warning residents about a Medicaid scam. In this case, a caller cloned a phone number that showed the call purportedly coming from the police and pretended to be a Medicaid employee.

Police Seek Help Locating Silver Spring Woman Missing Since Sunday

Detectives from the county’s police department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Silver Spring woman who has been missing since Sunday. Sandra Lee Bender, age 51, was last leaving the Regency Care of Silver Spring facility (located at 9101 Second Avenue) in the company of a friend at approximately 1:30 pm. [Sunday, May 16].

Two Suspects Arrested for Buying Cars with Fraudulent Checks; There May Be More Victims

County detectives from the 4th District have arrested two people in a scam involving purchasing cars with fraudulent cashier’s checks, and believe that there may be more victims. Papa Sissoko, age 25, of Weeping Willow Court, and Alyssa Hernandez, age 24, of Bakersfield Court, both of Aspen Hill, have been charged with vehicle theft and forgery in the case.

Takoma Park Police Investigating an Armed Robbery

Takoma Park police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 10:45 p.m on Saturday, April 24 near the intersection of Carroll and Tulip avenues. Police responded to a report and victim said as she stood at the intersection, a black sedan of unknown make and model stopped nearby.
