The Takoma Park Police Department’s Winter Coat Drive has collected over 600 winter coats and over 200 other items in this year’s campaign. The annual coat drive, which began November 2 and ended December 18, was held in partnership with Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington and other local charities.
A Silver Spring mother who, together with her child, were part of a missing persons case earlier this year is now wanted in a criminal case, according to county police. Ashley Spicer, age 35, has been charged with parental abduction of her nine-year-old daughter Israel “Kali” Burk; there is a now a warrant out for Spicer’s arrest.
Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart has issued a statement in response to news of a Takoma Park police officer’s arrest for sexual abuse of a minor. Citing court documents, WJLA-TV last week reported that 42-year-old Eric Mueller had been arrested in a case involving a 17-year-old female juvenile that occurred shortly before Thanksgiving.
The Montgomery County Parks Police are seeking the identity of a woman seen in a video vandalizing painted community picnic tables at the gazebo in Takoma Park.
The Takoma Park Police Department has issued a notice of a missing person it deems “critical.” Eighty-year-old Hector Ray Robinson, who the department also describes as “vulnerable,” was last seen in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue.
A county police officer with the Holiday Task Force stopped three men on Nov. 29 after a traffic violation in the Takoma Park area who were then charged with offenses including driving under the influence and handgun possession. The officer observed the incident in the area of University Boulevard East and Merrimac Drive.
Detectives with the county police department’s 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating the robbery of two people in Ellsworth Place and are asking for help to identify the suspects. The incident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 1 and the victims were a male and a female. Both suspects are male and the department has released surveillance video of the two in hopes someone can assist with identification.
Detectives from the county police’s Major Crimes Division have released surveillance video of a suspect in a recent bank robbery and are seeking help to identify him. The robbery occurred at about 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the TD Bank branch located at 8661 Colesville Rd. in Silver Spring.
