Great Shoals Winery Plans Tasting Room in Takoma Park

Great Shoals Winery will open its second tasting room in Montgomery County at 7050 Carroll Ave. in Takoma Park, according to an announcement from Main Street Takoma.

The winery also operates a tasting room at 14526 New Hampshire Ave. inside of the Heyser Farms market.

The winery, owned by Matt Cimino and partner Marina McCaney, produces various hard ciders and fruit wines based on blackberries, cherries and apples at the county site. They also offer a variety of wines from sauvignon blanc and pinot gris to chambourcin, malbec, merlot and cabernet franc, among others.

The pair plan to open to open the tasting room this June and will offer products by the glass or flight, or by the bottle to take home, along with cheeses and other small platters. The space will include a tasting bar, tables, and an outdoor patio seating area.
