Takoma Park Avenue to Close for Outdoor Dining, Public Use

Northbound Laurel Avenue in Takoma Park will be closed beginning today (June 12) to allow for outdoor seating, dining, sales and customer pick-ups, according to a city announcement.

Traffic will be rerouted around the Seventh Day Adventist church, while southbound Laurel Avenue will remain open to vehicles.

In addition, the handicapped parking space will be relocated to the southbound side. The post office will not be affected by the closure, the announcement said.

The median along Laurel will remain open for pedestrians to use, and the Sunday farmers market will continue to use Laurel Avenue.

The city has created a webpage with information related to the use of public space and to allow public feedback on those uses.
