A new business opened, and an established one reopened with new features, in Old Takoma, according to announcements from the Old Takoma Business Association.
Nikki Lugo, a tattoo artist with more than 17 years of experience, opened Lucky Duck Tattoo, an appointment-only parlor, on the second floor of 7006 Carroll Ave.
Lugo, who goes by the professional name of Nikki Balls, spent 13 years working at Tattoo Paradise in Adams Morgan and Wheaton before opening her own parlor, where she has implemented enhanced safety features in light of the coronavirus, according to the announcement.

In the meantime, Takoma Station Tavern has reopened after being closed for three months during the pandemic.
The tavern, located at 6914 Fourth St. N.W., has a new chef as well, having hired Chef Adrian Stewart, who worked most recently at Congressional Country Club.
A new “Chill and Grill” menu features soul food including barbecued chicken, beef brisket, ribs, collard greens, mac and cheese and other items.
Seating will be available inside (observing social distancing), or outside at the new outdoor grill area, which includes both sidewalk seating and new parklet dining (takeout also available).
In addition, co-owners David Boyd and Mel Florez will launch the Takoma Station Wingery Food Truck. The truck will be parked on 4th Street beginning Sept. 11 at noon and feature a variety of wings. It also will be available for local events.
The tavern has not yet restarted the variety of live music performances for which it’s been known since opening in 1984.
