Old Takoma Business Association Hosting Pajamarama Event

Pajama-wearing shoppers in Takoma Park will be rewarded with discounts at participating local businesses, as part of the Old Takoma Business Association’s Pajamarama event on December 6.

“No need to get up early this year! Takoma’s annual holiday shopping event, Pajamarama, will take place all day on Sunday, December 6th. Pajama-wearing shoppers will be rewarded with discounts at participating local businesses during normal business hours (hours vary by business),” according to Laura Barclay, Executive Director of the Old Takoma Business Association.

“Find unique holiday gifts including home decor, kitchen items, books, toys, puzzles, games, bikes, plants, pottery, lamps, clothing, shoes, jewelry, beads, pet supplies, baked goods, groceries, personal care items, and more at Takoma’s unique, independent shops and restaurants. Main Street Takoma will be set up outside, on the corner of Carroll and Laurel Avenues with the latest Takoma t-shirts, hats, mugs, masks, and tote bags.”

According to Barclay, Montgomery County’s COVID-19 restrictions will be followed. “Public safety is our highest priority. Businesses are offering sales all day to spread out shoppers and will continue to limit shop entry to meet County and District occupancy restrictions. Some businesses will offer sidewalk-only shopping options. Shoppers are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Shoppers are asked to eat only in dedicated dining areas and to not bring food inside shops or eat while walking between shops.”

A list of participating businesses can be found on the Old Takoma Business Association’s Pajamarama event website. For those interested in alternative ways to support Takoma businesses, Barclay encourages donations to the Takoma Micro-Grant for COVID relief: “We are continuing to raise money to offer another round of grants to our small businesses in early 2021.”
