The Montgomery County Parks Police are seeking the identity of a woman seen in a video vandalizing painted community picnic tables at the gazebo in Takoma Park.
In a Facebook post, Main Street Takoma, which commissioned the public art, wrote, “We are disgusted and saddened by this presumptive racially motivated vandalism of the community picnic tables that we commissioned by artist Trap Bob at the Takoma Park Gazebo. They were commissioned to celebrate our community’s common goals of change and justice, healing, and education.”
Anyone who can identify the woman is asked to call the Parks Police at 301.949.8010.
I’m livid. An artist friend of mine confronted + recorded this woman literally defacing my murals because she “doesn’t like them” and doesn’t believe I was hired to create them. How racist do you have to be to scrape black faces + names off of someone’s art? Disgusting pic.twitter.com/wC9DA9Ft1w
