Man Struck by Metrobus in Takoma Park

UPDATE 12/29/2020 8:46 a.m.: The pedestrian who was struck has non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy.

A man was struck yesterday by a Metrobus in Takoma Park and is currently hospitalized in serious condition, confirmed by officials from WMATA, Takoma Park Police, and the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service.

On Monday at approximately 6:40 pm, police responded to New Hampshire Avenue at Auburn Avenue for a male pedestrian struck by a Metrobus, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy.

The man was taken to a hospital with potentially severe and life-threatening injuries, said Pete Piringer, spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service. According to a statement from Metro, the bus was not in service at the time of the incident, and the driver of the bus remained on the scene.
