Packages Stolen from U.S. Mail Truck in Takoma Park; Suspects Sought

Takoma Park police and postal inspectors are investigating the theft of packages from a U.S. Mail truck, according to an emailed community advisory.

On Tuesday, at approximately 1:50 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7000 block of Carroll Avenue to a report of a theft from a U.S. Mail truck, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. A man and a woman entered the mail truck while it was on its route and stole several packages. They then fled in a vehicle, described as a 2015 white Toyota Highlander with VA Tag #ARJIARI.

The suspects were described as (1) black male, 5’8, light skin, last seen wearing a black ski mask, black pants, and a hoodie; and (2) black female, light skin, 5’5, 130 lbs., last seen wearing light blue jeans, black jacket, and a surgical mask. Both were approximately 20-25 years of age.

Investigation continues through the U.S. Postal Police.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Takoma Park Police at 301-270-1100 and refer to case #210004178.

Several postal thefts or robberies happened in the area Tuesday, according to authorities and reported by Fox 5. It is unclear if any of the crimes are related.
