Takoma Park Police Investigating Strong-Arm Carjacking

Takoma Park police are investigating a strong-arm carjacking that took place last night in the 200 block of Ethan Allen Avenue, near the Takoma Park Silver Spring Food Co-op.

According to a community advisory, the police responded to the incident at about 8:45 p.m.

“The victim was walking to his vehicle in the parking lot when he saw a group of five male subjects harassing another person,” the advisory reads. “When the victim yelled for them to stop, the five subjects approached the victim and one of them grabbed the victim’s keys out of his hand.”

The subjects began looking for the car in the parking lot. When the victim tried to stop them from taking the car, he was assaulted, though not seriously injured, the advisory said.

The suspects, described as five black males, all dressed in dark clothing, drove off on Carroll Avenue toward Washington.

A canvas of the area failed to find the car, a 2007 gold Toyota Camry with a Maryland license plate #6EH886.

The car has been listed with the National Crime Information Center stolen vehicle database. The department asks that anyone who has information about the incident to call 301.270.1100 and refer to case #210008948.
