Feed the Fridge Launches Second Takoma Park Location

Medium Rare Restaurant owner Mark Bucher launched a second Feed The Fridge location in Takoma Park this week, according to a city announcement.

“Great News! Thanks to the work of the City Council and Recreation Department a second Feed the Fridge has come to Takoma Park,” the announcement reads. “Starting on Monday, March 22, the Feed the Fridge will be available to take meals.”

The second Feed The Fridge is located at the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Ave. The first Takoma Park location, installed and dedicated by local officials in February, is located at the Takoma Park Recreation Center at 7315 New Hampshire Ave.

According to the organization’s website, the Feed The Fridge program “is an effort to bring nourishment where there is hunger while helping pandemic-battered restaurants stay in business. We do this by placing refrigerators around the DC metro area and paying local restaurants to fill them with fresh meals daily. We also hand-deliver holiday meals to seniors who cannot leave their homes.”

The MoCo Show reported in February that Olazzo and Cava Mezze are among the local restaurants that are participating in the program.
