Four defendants in a June 2020 armed robbery and assault in Takoma Park were sentenced Friday, April 16 by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, according to a Takoma Park police press release.
Those sentenced were:
- Eric De Jesus Flete, sentenced to 12 years
- Edwin De Jesus Flete, sentenced to 15 years
- Edgar De Jesus Flete, sentenced to 18 months, waiving credit for 10 months, and
- Hector Miguel Rodriguez was given time served.
All of the defendants were from Silver Spring. At the time of their arrests, Eric, Edwin and Rodriguez were all 19, while Edgar De Jesus Flete was 18.
According to a department release issued June 7, 2020, police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 8200 block of Flower Avenue at about 11:30 p.m.
“The victim was sitting in the area when he observed four males exit a vehicle that pulled up near him,” the release said. “The suspects immediately began assaulting the victim.
“After physically assaulting him, one of the suspects produced a firearm and pointed it at the victim,” the release continued. “The suspects forcibly removed property from the victim. The suspects then ran back to their vehicle and fled northbound on Flower Avenue towards Piney Branch Road.”
At about 12:20 a.m. on June 7, Montgomery County police saw the suspects’ car turn into the 7-11 on E. University Blvd. An investigation identified the suspects, noted firearms in two suspects’ possession, and the victim’s property in the vehicle, and the four were arrested.
The charges included armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, theft, possession of a loaded firearm and related charges.
