Renewals for renewed parking permits in Takoma Park began June 1, according to a reminder community advisory from the city’s police department.
Any vehicle’s windshield sticker with an expiration date of June 2021 or older must apply for renewal.
Residential permits are $12.50 for one year and $20 for two years. Business parking permits are $15 for one year and are limited to three employees per business.
Permits can be applied for in person or online. Each request must include a copy of the current vehicle registration and driver’s license for at least one resident showing a Takoma Park address, and applicants must add $1 for shipping and handling.
A decal and year sticker for each registered vehicle will be mailed within three business days of receipt, along with two visitor parking permits for each address.
Business applications must include “current Maryland traders license, or evidence of the business being operated at an address within a given commercial area adjacent to a permit parking area. A home-based business must show evidence of a currently operating business that is current on payment of personal property taxes,” according to permits page on the city’s website.
The permits page also includes a map where residents or businesses can enter an address to see if a permit is required, or parking meters are in effect.
