Takoma Park Street Festival Returns October 3

The Takoma Park Street Festival will return to mark its 40th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 pm., officials announced.

The festival will take place on Carroll Avenue in Takoma Park to Carroll Street N.W. in Washington. It will feature multiple vendors selling original artwork, prints, ceramics, silk-screening, bath and body care, jewelry, woodworking, textiles, leather goods and other items.

In addition, there will be food offerings from local restaurants and food trucks located on the Laurel Avenue Streetery and on Carroll Avenue, between Laurel and Willow Avenues.

Entertainment will be provided by 18 musical acts performing on three stages: the Gazebo, Willow Avenue stage and Columbia Avenue stage.

Organizers ask that anyone who is over age 12 come fully vaccinated and wear masks when not eating or drinking. In addition, for health safety reasons, vendor booths will only placed along one side of the street, and they will be spread out further along Carroll Avenue—from Eastern Avenue N.W. to Philadelphia Avenue.

The county’s Department of Health and Human Services will host a COVID vaccine and testing site at the festival in front of 7000 Carroll Avenue. The department will offer the Pfizer vaccine.

Unvaccinated people or those needing second doses, and people approved for booster shots and third doses (listed here) may receive a vaccine at the event. Those who want a second or third dose or booster should bring their vaccination card; no reservations are required.

Finally, the Takoma Park police department will close the following streets from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the festival:

  • Carroll Avenue between Willow and Philadelphia
  • Westmoreland at Walnut/Elm
  • Tulip at Willow
  • Columbia at Pine
  • Carroll at Fire Station
  • Park at Spruce
  • Carroll at Eastern
  • Laurel at Eastern

In addition, no parking will be allowed on either side of Tulip between Willow and Carroll avenues, or on the church side of Maple Avenue.
