Police Investigating Armed Carjacking in Takoma Park

Investigators from the Takoma Park Police Department are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred Friday, and are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspects.

“On October 8, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue (Red Carpet Inn) for the report of an armed carjacking,” reads an emailed Community Advisory. “The victim had parked his vehicle and while still inside he was approached by three black male suspects dressed in all black clothing wearing black face masks. Two of the suspects approached from the driver side door and the third suspect at the passenger side door. One of the suspects displayed a black handgun and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. The victim complied and while exiting the vehicle, one of the suspects tried to take the victim’s wallet but was unsuccessful. The suspects stole the victim’s vehicle and fled the area towards the rear parking lot of the hotel. Surrounding jurisdictions were notified. The victim was not seriously physically injured. The outstanding vehicle has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database.

“The carjacked vehicle is a 2018 black Honda Civic, Tag #MD 2EF8761. Investigation continues under case #210040283. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to please call us at (301) 270-1100.”
