Silver Spring resident Kevin Harris has opened Zen Renovations, a design-build general contractor studio specializing in kitchen remodeling, additions, bathrooms, and basements, according to an announcement from Main Street Takoma.

The studio, located at 117 Carroll St. NW in Takoma D.C., is open by appointment, which can be booked on the Zen Renovations website.

Zen Renovations is a design-build general contractor specializing in kitchen, additions, bathrooms, and basements,” the announcement reads. “Offering full architectural and interior design services in addition to construction, Zen Renovations provides customers with everything that they need from project start to finish.”

The Design Studio also includes a full, state-of-the-art kitchen that will host cooking demonstrations, classes, wine tastings, and more, according to the announcement. “The Design Studio provides customers with a one-stop experience to design their home projects and make finish selections. Zen Designers guide clients through the entire life cycle of a project from initial concepts to selections of tile and fixtures. The studio carries eco-friendly Crystal Cabinet Works cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, and built-ins. These eco-friendly cabinets are certified under the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Environmental Stewardship Program and are free of formaldehyde. In addition to cabinetry, the studio displays countertops, tile, and hardware options making the selection process easier for clients.

“Kevin Harris, the owner of Zen Renovations, first moved to Takoma Park in 1990 and now resides with his family in Silver Spring. He began his construction career as the Director of the YouthBuild program at the Latin American Youth Center, which trains out-of-school youth aged 16-24 in construction skills while working to obtain their GED.”
