Arrests Made for Armed Robbery; Other Offenses

Takoma Park Police chief Antonio DeVaul has announced the arrest of two men in connection with an armed robbery that occurred May 24 at the 7-Eleven in the 900 block of Merrimac Drive.

Manuel Perez Lopez, 24, of Hyattsville, and Henry Oswaldo Moreno-Rojas, 45, of no fixed address, have been arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Use of a Handgun in the Commission of a Felony, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, First Degree Assault, and Theft $1500 to under $25,000, according to an emailed community advisory.

“On May 24, 2022, at approximately 9:51 am, a vehicle pulled up in front of 900 Merrimac Drive, Takoma Park, Maryland (7-11) where a passenger exited and entered the establishment; the driver of the vehicle remained in the vehicle,” the community advisory reads. “The suspect walked behind the counter armed with a silver revolver, pointed it at an employee victim and demanded property. Another store employee approached and the gun was then placed on him. The same demands were made upon the second victim to which he complied. The suspect fled the establishment and entered the vehicle he arrived in and both suspects fled toward University Blvd. A lookout of the suspects and vehicle was provided to all surrounding jurisdictions.

“Through investigation, police were able to identify the suspects and apprehend them. Both are being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.”
