Takoma Park Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a shooting at Advance Auto Parts last Saturday that is now being investigated as a homicide.
Police are seeking security camera footage that may help investigators identify a suspect.
“The victim Nurhusen Hamid was working as a mobile mechanic on the Advanced Auto Store parking lot located at 6300 New Hampshire Avenue [in Takoma Park],” police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said in a news release. “At that time, an unknown suspect approached the victim and shot at him several times, striking him. The victim was transported to an area hospital, [succumbing] to his injuries. If you live on or are a business owner on Eastern Avenue or New Hampshire Avenue and have security cameras outside your home or business, please contact Detective Earle.”
Police said that the suspect’s vehicle is a white SUV that was double-parked on Eastern Avenue near New Hampshire Avenue.
