Police Seeking to Identify Fatal Shooting Suspect

Takoma Park Police are seeking to identify a suspect in a July 16 shooting at Advance Auto Parts that is now being investigated as a homicide.

According to an emailed community advisory, a cash reward of up to $10,000 is being offered to anyone that provides information leading to the arrest and/or the indictment of those responsible for the shooting.

“The victim Nurhusen Hamid was working as a mobile mechanic on the Advanced Auto Store parking lot located at 6300 New Hampshire Avenue [in Takoma Park],” police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said. “At that time, an unknown suspect approached the victim and shot at him several times, striking him. The victim was transported to an area hospital, [succumbing] to his injuries. If you live on or are a business owner on Eastern Avenue or New Hampshire Avenue and have security cameras outside your home or business, please contact Detective Earle.”

Police said the suspect’s vehicle is a white SUV that was double-parked on Eastern Avenue near New Hampshire Avenue at the time of the shooting.
