Takoma Park Folk Festival Seeks Volunteers to Help Manage Event

The organizers of the 2022 Takoma Park Folk Festival are looking for people to join the all-volunteer staff to help manage and produce the festival, the group said.

The festival returns this year as an in-person outdoor event. It will be held at the Takoma Park Middle School and Lee Jordan Field from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11

The event will feature 34 individuals or groups performing on four stages, as well as 30 crafts vendors.

TPFF is looking for volunteers to help load supplies and set up on Saturday. Sunday volunteers can help manage parking and traffic, do additional set up, serve as stage assistants and runners, assist with artist merchandise, serve at grounds keeping stations, and much more.

Volunteers can sign up online; SSL hours are available for student volunteers as well.

This year’s performance line up is the most diverse in the festival’s 40-year history, organizers said.

“We’ve really tried to present a more diverse lineup…with more people who have not performed before and more styles of music,” said Debra St. Charles, chair of the Program Committee.

“You’re going to see a lot of people who have not performed at the festival before, but also some old favorites,” St. Charles said. “I’m excited about seeing the up-and-coming artists…they’re extremely talented.”
