Suspect Sought in Marathon Gas Station Burglary

Takoma Park Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a burglary of the Marathon gas station on New Hampshire Avenue.

“On August 15, 2022, at approximately 5:59 am, Takoma Park police responded to the 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue (Marathon gas station) for the report of a commercial burglary that occurred earlier,” police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said in an emailed community advisory. “Officers met with the owner of the business, who indicated his alarm company had notified him of a possible break-in. Video surveillance inside the business showed one male breaking into and entering the establishment and attempting to steal property, it appears, without success.”

Plevy said that the suspect is described as a dark-skinned Black male with dreadlock-style hair, last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, mask, dark-colored hoodie, blue plaid underwear, black pants, and black boots.

Anyone with information about the incident or suspect is asked to call Takoma Park Police at (301) 270-1100.
