Takoma Park Adds Trunk or Treat to 2022 Monster Bash

The City of Takoma Park, in conjunction with the Takoma Park Police Department, will add a new event to the annual Monster Bash scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 beginning at 1 p.m.

Trunk or Treat, organized by the Recreation Department, will feature vehicles with decorated trunks, or tables set up, to hand out treats to kids. The department is looking for volunteer businesses or nonprofits that would like to reserve space and participate in the event. Email [email protected] to reserve space.

In the meantime, the police department has been accepting candy donations at their headquarters to contribute to the event, though collecting closed yesterday.

The Monster Bash kickoff will begin at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Takoma Park Middle School at 7611 Piney Branch Rd. There will be a DJ, the aforementioned Trunk or Treat, roving entertainment, and a magic show.

The costume parade will kick off at 2 p.m. and wind down Piney Branch Road to Philadelphia Avenue, then down Maple Avenue to the front of the Community Center.

At that point, attendees will be entertained by a local band from 2:30–4 p.m., along with the announcement of the costume contest winners, a selfie station, games, and more roving entertainment.

There will be road closures and limited accessibility to some residential streets. Consult the event website for complete details, including bus detours.

For additional information or to volunteer for the event, contact John Webster at [email protected] or 301891.7225.
