Takoma Park Police Chief Antonio DeVaul this week announced the arrest of 27-year-old Jose Mazara, of no fixed address, for first-degree burglary, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, and a loaded handgun on a person.
Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said in a news release that detectives conducted a traffic stop in the 7600 block of Maple Ave. on September 29. During the traffic stop, Mazara was identified as a potential suspect in multiple Takoma Park burglaries, however, he was released at that time.
Mazara was found and arrested by Takoma Park detectives on December 7. During a search, items of significant value were discovered on his person that were connected with multiple burglaries that occurred in Takoma Park. Following the impoundment of Mazara’s vehicle, a search warrant was obtained, and additional items of evidentiary value were discovered inside the vehicle. Mazara was arrested, charged, and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
Mazara is believed to have committed burglaries on June 21 in the 100 block of Sherman Ave., November 13 in the 900 block of East-West Hwy., November 27 in the 900 block of Larch Ave., and December 7 in the 1300 block of Erskine St.
