Police Investigating Shooting After Victim Walks Into Takoma Park 7-Eleven

Takoma Park Police say that they are investigating a shooting after a man walked into a 7-Eleven early Tuesday morning with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said that around 2:21 a.m. on Tuesday, an adult male entered the 7-Eleven located in the 1300 block of University Blvd. with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers responded to the scene and provided medical assistance until fire and rescue personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A blood trail was found in the 7-Eleven leading to an apartment in the 7800 block of Kennewick Ave. There were signs of forced entry at the apartment building’s entrance door. A number of attempts were made by officers to contact residents inside an apartment where blood was discovered, but no one was able to be reached. Takoma Park Police officers, along with Montgomery County Police officers, forced entry into the apartment after being concerned that potential victims might be inside. A number of people were found unharmed inside the apartment; they were taken to the police department for questioning.

A number of items of evidentiary value were located inside and outside the apartment. Currently, no arrests have been made.
