Landover Man Arrested for Car Theft, Other Charges

A Landover man has been arrested in connection with a December car theft, according to Takoma Park Police.

Chief Antonio DeVaul announced on Sunday the arrest of 35-year-old Jeffery Allen Campbell of Landover for stolen auto, theft over $500, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and other traffic offenses.

Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said that at approximately 3:44 p.m. on December 28, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 7300 block of New Hampshire Ave. The car had been reported stolen on December 23, but the victim located it and contacted police. As officers canvassed the area in which the vehicle was last seen, near the Takoma Park Fire Station, they observed two occupants inside the car. An arrest was made in the 900 block of East-West Highway without incident.

Campbell was charged accordingly and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit for processing. A passenger in the vehicle was identified and released from the scene.
