The Takoma Park Police Department has begun a three-month drive to collect needed items to be distributed to county animal shelters, according to an emailed community advisory.
Police will be collecting new or gently used bath towels, beach towels, bathroom rugs, hand towels, washcloths, blankets, beds, toys, and unopened food.
Donors can drop items in the lobby of the police department at 7500 Maple Ave.
Shelters can not accept fitted sheets, items with zippers or snaps, or fabrics with rips or frayed edges, due to safety concerns.
The donation drive runs through March 3.
