Police Investigating Armed Carjacking in Takoma Park

Takoma Park Police say that they are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred Wednesday morning in the 6400 block of New Hampshire Ave.

Officers were dispatched just before noon Wednesday to the 6400 block of New Hampshire Ave. for an armed robbery and carjacking that had just occurred at a gas station, according to acting spokesperson Ron Hardy. Officers met with the victim, who informed them that he had been robbed and carjacked by a suspect, described as a black male about 6 feet 3 inches tall, wearing a black ski mask and all-black clothing.

During the incident, the victim exited his vehicle, which was running and locked at the time. Additionally, he stated that he observed a black Dodge Charger with black tinted windows drive into the parking lot and park nearby.

Upon exiting the store, the victim observed the suspect attempting to open the driver’s side door of his BMW X6. As soon as he reached the field/grass area, the suspect chased him and pointed a black handgun at him, demanding his car keys and wallet.

Taking the victim’s vehicle and personal property, the suspect fled southbound on New Hampshire Ave. towards the District, followed by a black Dodge Charger.
