Police are investigating the second food truck robbery that occurred within a week in Takoma Park.
Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said that officers responded at approximately 2:40 p.m. Friday to the Pupuseria Y Taqueria Lupita food truck in the 6400 block of New Hampshire Ave. for the report of an armed robbery that occurred earlier.
A hammer was used by the suspect to gain entry into the food truck through the service window. After entering the food truck, the suspect armed himself with a knife, forced the victim to the floor, and stole property. After exiting the vehicle through the rear door, the suspect fled west toward the back of the gas station, climbed over the fence, and was last seen running through the wooded area toward Sligo Mill Road.
The victim was not seriously injured during the armed robbery. Officers conducted a canvass of the area with negative results. The suspect left behind the hammer and knife, both of which were impounded, Plevy said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’8″ tall, with a thin build, who was last seen wearing a full mask and all dark clothing.
Anyone with information about the suspect or robbery is asked to call Takoma Park Police at (301) 270-1100.
