Suspects Sought in Armed Carjacking, Assault

Police in Takoma Park are asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in an armed carjacking and assault that occurred early Thursday morning.

Officers responded at around 5:30 a.m. on March 23 to an armed carjacking that occurred at the Marathon Gas station in the 6400 block of New Hampshire Ave., according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. The victim was getting ready to enter his vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects wearing black ski masks and dark clothing; one from behind him and the other from in front of him. In addition to striking the victim in the face with a gun, the suspects demanded at gunpoint the keys to the victim’s automobile.

The victim complied and the suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle heading toward the District. The victim was not seriously injured, and the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database, Plevy said.

The suspects are described as two Black males, wearing dark clothing and black ski masks.

Anyone with information about this armed carjacking and assault is asked to call Takoma Park Police at (301) 270-1100.
