Takoma Park is seeking public comment on a proposed amendment to the city’s outdoor café regulation that would see an increase in permit and lease fees for restaurants.
In accordance with Takoma Park Code Section 8.16.090, Administrative Regulation 2018-1 – Outdoor Cafe Permit Regulation, which has been in effect since 2018, regulates the establishment and permitting of outdoor cafés within the public right-of-way.
A proposed amendment to the regulation would increase the permit and lease fees, allow annual fee updates to be published on July 1 of each year, and eliminate the requirement for a “processing fee,” according to a press release.
The public may submit written comments regarding the proposed regulation by emailing [email protected] before July 31. Questions may be directed to Ira Kowler at (301) 891-7230 or [email protected].
