Red Hound Pizza Serves Up Fresh Flavors in Takoma Park

Red Hound Pizza is now open for a soft launch in Takoma Park.

We reported in April that the new pizza shop from partners Charbel Abrache and Andrea Alvarez would open in the former home of Main Street Pearl at 7050 Carroll Ave., which closed last year at the end of their lease.

Abrache is the former head pastry chef at D.C. favorite Seylou Bakery, where he led his team in developing recipes using whole-grain flour and alternative grains and created the popular pizza program.

Following their genuine love for pizza, the couple established Red Hound Pizza, drawing inspiration from their basset hound.

Last weekend, Main Street Takoma hosted a ribbon cutting for Red Hound Pizza, along with other recently opened or expanded businesses in Takoma Park, including Muối Tiêu, Takoma Music School, San Pancho, Cielo Rojo, and Takoma Bicycle.

“Red Hound Pizza will use freshly milled flour from local and regenerative sources and will include the partners’ favorite aspects of both Roman and Sicilian style pizza-making,” Main Street Takoma’s Laura Barclay said in the restaurant’s April announcement. “The menu will offer a seasonal, rotating variety of pizza toppings, salads and focaccia sandwiches, as well as a selection of desserts. To encourage sampling the seasonal variations on rotation, Red Hound Pizza will offer pizza by the slice in addition to whole pizzas.”

Red Hound Pizza’s soft opening hours are 5-9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
