34-Year-Old Faces Attempted Armed Robbery Charges in Takoma Park

Takoma Park Police have arrested and charged 34-year-old Jersi Eduardo Claros in connection with an attempted armed robbery on August 13.

Police Chief Antonio DeVaul announced the arrest on Sunday.

At around 8:38 p.m. on August 13, Takoma Park Police officers responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue. A juvenile victim was approached by a suspect, later identified as Claros, while sitting at a bus stop. Claros demanded money from the victim. When the victim said he had none, Claros made a gesture towards his waistband, indicating that he was armed.

Police said Claros, who has no fixed address, then attempted to demand money from two other women at the bus stop but was unsuccessful.

During the investigation, Claros was identified as the suspect and located in the Walgreens parking lot on University Boulevard. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit in Rockville.
