Takoma Park Police are seeking youth aged 16 to 21 to join the Chief’s Advisory Board.
According to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy, the Chief’s Advisory Board bridges the police department and the community, providing a forum for discussing community concerns, public safety initiatives, and departmental policies.
Youth members can collaborate with city leaders, share their experiences, and help shape initiatives that impact them and their peers.
The department aims to foster meaningful dialogue, gain insight into youth issues, and strengthen trust between officers and the next generation by inviting young people to join.
“We want to hear directly from our young residents—their ideas, concerns, and solutions,” Plevy said. “Engaging with youth helps us better understand their challenges and ensures that we’re building a safer, more inclusive community together.”
